October Update 2008

The new beginner classes have all got off to a good start. We took a gamble starting a new beginners street hip – hop class on Monday at 6.00pm but it has turned out to be a good move and means that the improvers group at 7.00pm can progress to more difficult moves without having to worry about new starters in the group.

The absolute beginners Latin and ballroom classes are progressing well. Everyone can do 4 latin moves quite well and the waltz is beginning to shape up. The next dances on the agenda are salsa and quickstep.

The improver groups are all settling down, some with new time slots and we hope the Thursday social members who are joining forces with the Tuesday class will mix well and we promise some snazzy new moves!

We have 2 new beginner classes starting in October. The first one is Wednesday 1st October at 8.15pm and Thursday 9th October at 8.30pm, both sessions are for 1hour and the class fee is £5.00 per person per session.

Don’t forget our beginners/Improvers social night on Saturday 4th October.

The junior medal presentation was a great success. All the children were delighted with their awards and the majority enjoyed performing for their parents and friends. The school achievement award was won by Carrie-Ann Baker.

I think it is fair to say we can look forward to lots of fun and laughter in the next few months on all the classes!

Start living this autumn start dancing!

Dancing is as natural and as important to human life as breathing air –Oh, I can guess what some of you are already  thinking –yes, you can breathe but to be able to dance that would be impossible  because you have two left feet or you think you are uncoordinated, clumsy or haven’t got any rhythm. Providing you are reasonably intelligent and able to walk unassisted you will be able to dance it is just finding the right class and may be repeating that level until you feel comfortable with your steps, coordination and movement.

We have classes for very young children from the age of 3years right up to our Junior Club which caters for up to 16 years.

Teens and twenties enjoy Street and hip-hop

Adult classes are available in Latin American, Ballroom, Salsa, Jive Jazz, KF, Ballet, Funky Disco and Street.

Latin American includes Jive, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Salsa. Ballroom includes waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Slow Foxtrot, Rhythm, and American Smooth.

Our modern teaching methods ensure that you will learn in the shortest possible time because we know, you want to achieve results fast and be able to enjoy parties, dances and may be that next cruise. We recommend our absolute beginners classes on Monday or Friday at 8.15pm.

If you would like a refresher course following last season’s beginners how about trying our ‘Brush up on Basics’ class on a Friday at 7.30pm. If you are ready for improvers and have a reasonable knowledge of basics go for the Thursday 7.30pm class which includes some snazzy moves whilst recapping on basic style and action. Wednesday night is a fun couples night – not quite up to Strictly Come Dancing level but we are catching up fast – everyone knows the basics plus we are adding some ‘sparklers’ and the popular sequence dances. Our Tuesday night caters for keen social dancers who enjoy a new variation but do not need quite so much instruction as they can dance well.

Have a good look through all our information on the web site and if you need any help please phone 01202 514551.

Look forward to meeting you.

Best Wishes Toni

Happy New Year

Come along to our open afternoon on Sunday 30th December between 2.00 – 4.00pm if you would like to have a look at the studios or discuss any classes with the teachers. We are all looking forward to 2008 and can’t wait to get started again – dancing gives your body such a buzz. If you are thinking of starting with your partner I really can’t think of a nicer hobby that you can do together – if you are at different levels a few 1 to 1 dance lessons would be a good idea.

Our beginners classes are really good fun and you really do learn to dance. You may come to our beginner’s class with or without a partner but you do need a partner on the intermediate or improver nights. We had some really good dance nights leading up to Christmas and it was great to see everyone dancing, having fun.

We have 4 new absolute beginner Latin and Ballroom classes starting in January, plus a new Street class and an adult ballet class.

We cater for 2nd stage beginners – if you started last September then join the new Friday class at 8.30pm.

We have intermediate and improver classes but I suggest you call in or phone to make sure you attend the best class.

We wish you a healthy and happy 2008.

Learn to Dance before Christmas!!

Our adult classes are buzzing – I think everyone is watching Strictly Come Dancing and whilst you might not agree with everything it is without doubt a very entertaining programme for all ages and non dancers realise that dancing is a great fun way of keeping fit and having fun.

Our current beginners classes are progressing well and so far we have covered quickstep, cha cha and have just started rock n’ roll ready for the Christmas parties and  dances. We have one more absolute beginners class starting on Friday 9th November at 8.30pm this will be the last new class before Christmas so come on down and join in.

The Thursday 7.30pm improver class which is all instruction is going well and the standard is pretty good almost up to Bronze level in Quickstep, Cha Cha and Samba. This is followed by an intermediate group of all different levels.

The Wednesday intermediate group are now flying. They all look good and feel confident, quite a few members are booking and enjoying cruise holidays and their social diaries seem pretty busy!

The studios aim is to teach you to dance so you can go anywhere and feel comfortable. The next Saturday beginners social is 10th November. (Anglo pupils only)

Junior members are working hard for awards in December – all classes are fun and well supported from baby ballet to Hip Hop/Street and ballroom and Latin.
